Frequently Asked Questions

  • I wholehearted believe that with an open, curious attitude paired with the willingness to explore, therapy can be beneficial to just about anyone.

A big misconception about therapy is that it is intended for those with serious mental illness or severe trauma. The beauty of therapy is that it can be designed to support nearly every aspect of life, ranging from the seemingly benign to the most devastating. No one is any more or less worthy of therapy, and there is no definitive ranking of life problems.

Therapy intends to provide a unique perspective from a trained, unbiased professional who has your best interest in mind. It is perfectly fine to show up to session without having a major issue at hand and instead engage without a list of topics or an agenda. Not everything needs to be ‘falling apart’ for you to want to improve your life and maintain your well-being. We are all deserving and worthy of that support.

  • I offer a safe space for clients to explore their past, present, and future, collaboratively. We attend to whatever issues naturally arise and continually remain mindful of one’s ever-evolving treatment plan.

  • I offer both 50 minute and 90 Minute sessions that typically occur on a weekly or bi-weekly basis. With that being said, you are free to start/pause/stop therapy as you see fit. We can also discuss this collaboratively in order to suit your own goals and needs.

  • Yes.

Depending on your health insurance provider or employee benefit plan, it is possible for online counselling services to be covered in full or in part. Some insurance companies allow for me to direct bill, while others may not. Please contact your insurance provider and verify whether or not your plan covers Registered Counselling Therapists (RCTs / RCT-Cs) and/or Certified Canadian Counsellors (CCCs) prior to booking your consultation.

I recommend asking these questions to your insurance provider to help determine your benefits:

    • Does my health insurance plan include mental health benefits?

    • Does my health insurance cover Registered Counselling Therapists or Certified Canadian Counsellors?

    • Do I have a deductible? If so, what is it and have I met it yet?

    • Does my plan limit how many sessions per calendar year I can have? If so, what is the limit?

    • Do I need written approval from my primary care physician in order for services to be covered?

  • I offer a limited number of sliding scale appointments to those without insurance and/or to those who cannot afford the full fee. Please don’t hesitate to let me know if you are interested in exploring this option further.

  • I am currently only offering sessions virtually or over the phone using a secure platform that ensures your privacy and confidentiality.

  • You may pay with debit, Visa, MasterCard or eTranfser.

  • If it is necessary to cancel your scheduled appointment, you may reach out at least 24 business hours in advance. Monday appointments must be cancelled by 12:00 pm noon on Friday, and appointments scheduled for the first day following a holiday must be cancelled by 12:00 pm noon on the last business day before the holiday. Appointments that are not cancelled within policy guidelines will incur a charge equivalent to the scheduled session’s full fee. Exceptions can be made for extenuating circumstances at my discretion. Outstanding balances must be paid in full prior to rescheduling.
